After 2 years of no additions to the park due to the pandemic, the 2022 season brings 2 new rides and the whole park has had a refresh!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Rides
The first new addition is one you can't miss! Evolution is a new drop tower that is positioned on the cliff edge with impressive views down the coast and straight down to the sea below! They have done a really good job with theming. The ride is part of Restricted Area 5, and there is dinosaur eggs dotted around the area!
The 2nd New ride is Shipwrecked. A magic-carpet style ride themed to a sinking pirate ship. With Evolution aimed at thrill-seekers, Shipwrecked is more at the younger children who enjoy rides.
Water Force has also had a make-over this year, with a fresh lick of paint and also new theming! The 2 outside slides have embraced the racing theme with a traffic lights and a count-down at the top and also a time boards so you can see how fast you came down!
Unfortunately it has been confirmed this is the final season the Cliffhanger rollercoaster will be in operation, but a new ride will replace it in 2023!
Restricted Area 5
7 new animatronic Dinosaurs have been added to the Land.! When you enter a new dinosuar has smashed the old path! You are then walk through a new part with a family of Velociraptors waiting for you! The rest of the dinosaurs in the area have all been refreshed and all look like new!
Rest of the Park
The rest of the park has had refresh! Nurseryland has had the most noticeable refresh with all the models having a repaint! The Musical Pet Shop last year had a update, with new animals added and buttons for interaction! If you don't like the Baby Shark song don't enter!
Underwater Kingdom has new models added, replacing the original ones. Gusipeee has been repainted and the whale has had a spring clean!
Events
The park has recently stepped up in events, and this year is no exception! With the return of the Dinosaur vs Cowboy, Fireworks and it's award winning Terror Island halloween event, there is a event for everyone!
Final Thought!
The park has always had a special place for me! The moment I approach on the bus it just put a smile on my face! Far enough there isn't the big rides like Alton Towers and Thorpe Park, but it makes up for in uniqueness and quirky attractions! The views alone are worth the admission.
If you visit the Isle of Wight this year, you have to make Blackgang your first point of call!
