Mousetrap (Spoiler Free)

24th May 2023, Milton Keynes Theatre

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The Mousetrap is a classic Agatha Christie whodunit that has been running in London's West End for over 70 years and now on tour around the UK. This is the 2nd time i have seen the show, previously seeing it at The Royal & Derngate Northampton. Luckily i had completely forgotten the killer!

The play is set in a country guest house during a snowstorm, where a group of strangers are snowed in together. When one of the guests is murdered, the others must work together to find the killer. The play is well-written and suspenseful, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the audience guessing. The cast is excellent, with each actor giving a convincing performance. This touring performance currently has Todd Carty and Catherine Shipton as Major Metcalf and Mrs Boyle. The set is also impressive. There is no set changes within the show, with everything taking place inside one room of the guest house. The details in the room however are brilliant. Overall, The Mousetrap is a great choice for anyone who enjoys a good mystery. The play is well-written, suspenseful, and features an excellent cast. If you're looking for a night of entertainment, I highly recommend The Mousetrap. Here are some of the things that I liked about the play:

  • The plot was well-written and suspenseful. There were plenty of twists and turns to keep me guessing until the very end. You see and hear various clues thoughout the show that makes you think its one person then suddenly more clues actually point to another person During the break i even got talking to the people next to me discussing who we reckon was the killer. We all had different ideas who it could be!

  • The cast was excellent. Each actor gave a convincing performance that brought their character to life.

  • The set was impressive. The cosy country house felt like a real place, and it helped to create a sense of atmosphere and suspense.

Overall, I enjoyed The Mousetrap. It's a classic whodunit that is well-written and suspenseful. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery. The show is currently playing at the St. Martin's Theatre in London's West End, and on tour around the UK.
