This was my 15th time seeing this, some people would say i have a small obsession with the show 😂 This was also the first time seeing it with a friend, who had only heard the songs and a brief description of the show from me.
The show is about Henry 8th six wives, and who had the worst time being married to him, and who had the worst ending.
Catherine of Aragon (Rhianne-Louise McCaulsky) opens the contest with No Way, describing her time with henry and the reason she was divorced, and almost being sent to a Nunery.
Anne Bolyen (Baylie Carson) tells the story of how she broke England from the church and her beheading in the song "Don't lose Ur Head". This was the first time seeing this current cast member performing as Anne Bolyen. I felt they was trying too hard show the mad personality of the character. Its a shame as previous actresses felt more natural with the more childish attitude of Anne Bolyen
Jane Seymour (Claudia Kariuki) sings a Ballard about her natural death and leaving her son to grow up without a mum, in the song "My Heart of Stone". She manages to channel the emotion, even managed to bring me to tears! Out of the 6 queen's she had the loudest cheer!
The funniest song is "Haus of Holbein" telling the story of how Henry chose Anna of Cleaves (Dionne Ward-Anderson) in Germany. It is presented in the form of a "Tinder" like screen, with 2 of the queens being swiped left then Anna being swiped right
She then goes on to sing "Get Down" describing how she was divorced because she didn't match her portrait and left to live a life in a palace with a life-time supply of money.
Katherine Howard (Koko Basigara) then sings the story of her beheading in the song "All You Wanna Do".
The final queen to sing is Catherine Parr who survived till henry died. She initially is reluctant to take part in the contest but then sings the song "I Don't Need Your Love" where she describes how she had to give up her true love to marry the king, but also her accomplishments in life!
The Queens then realize that the one thing they have in common is they was married to Henry and without that they would disappear in History, as they each had different personalities which meant comparing them didn't work. All six queens then sing the title song "Six"
This is also one of the few shows in the west end you are actually encouraged to film the Megamix (MegaSix).
This was the first time sitting in the stalls at the theatre. Normally i sit in the circle or the Upper Circle, but i think this was my favourite seat. The view was perfect. The price was a slightly higher but i can see why it was.
The show is only a 1 hour and 20mins, but it goes so quickly you wish it was on longer! I feel the show is one of the best shows on in the London's West End and touring the UK! If you are in London or the show visits a theatre near you, see it!
One other thing, you will never forget the order and names of the wives: Divorced, Beheaded, Died, Divorced, Beheaded, Survive!
